From Dhaka to Kentucky to Christchurch: A journey across continents that shaped my approach to life coaching

Hello! I'm excited to share my journey with you

I have travelled the world and seen many things in my life, and returned home after 33 years. I had to shoulder a few responsibilities, and had to come face to face with the full sweep of human fortunes and misfortunes, and faced the challenges life threw at me “head on”, quite literally, I was in the trenches in the front line. Therefore, I am not someone who's an armchair philosopher.

I can relate to you on your level and where you are at this moment in your life, as I have the training to do so. Connection is key between coach and client. Then I look at the challenges from a holistic point of view, as life has several pillars.

The Early Days: Education in Bangladesh & the USA

I began my academic path at Maple Leaf International School and Shaheen College in Dhaka. Those years shaped my early outlook on life, giving me a solid academic foundation and a love for learning.

After high school, I moved to the United States, where I lived for 9 years and completed my degree at the University of Kentucky. Life in Kentucky taught me adaptability, independence, and gave me a broader worldview.

🇳🇿 A New Chapter in Aotearoa

In 1999, I moved to New Zealand, where I've now lived for over 25 years. Since arriving, I've worked across various sectors including administration, logistics, operations management, and corrections, currently serving as a Case Manager. My work focuses on rehabilitation and reintegration, helping people build better futures.

I've always believed in working with purpose—leading teams, solving problems, and supporting people in navigating complex life transitions. These experiences are now fueling my next step into life coaching, where I aim to guide others in discovering clarity and growth.

My Family

Family is everything to me. My parents are retired and live in Auckland, New Zealand. My wife works as a social worker for the New Zealand government.

We're proud of our children, who are all making meaningful contributions across Australasia:

  • My eldest son works in the Justice Department in Melbourne.
  • My daughter works in the Justice Department in Perth.
  • Another daughter is a social worker in Dunedin.
  • One daughter works in IT within New Zealand's farming sector.
  • My youngest son started his first year of Civil Engineering at the University of Auckland in 2025.

My brother works in IT at the University of Auckland, and my sister is an accountant contracted by Melbourne City Council.

Life Outside Work

I'm passionate about healthy living and maintaining an active lifestyle. In my free time, you'll find me enjoying:

Skiing, hiking, mountain biking
Badminton, squash, tennis, and table tennis
Soccer and cricket
Spending time with family and friends

Looking Ahead

Living across three countries, raising a family, and working in people-centered roles has shaped my values around growth, resilience, and compassion. As I step into the world of life coaching, I look forward to helping others find direction, purpose, and balance—no matter where they're starting from.
